Digital Learning

Ever wondered why or what is attracting the younger generation glued to mobiles and internet rather than books, magazines or novels? If you come across even a one year old child, you'll find him more attracted to a mobile than to a toy. Visit any college or a local shopping mall, you will find the youth hovering over the websites, online games or chatting on mobiles. Why are books taking a backstage? Why is the glory of books lost? What is preventing kids from taking up a book to read? Why is a parent not able to control a child's access to these tech gadgets? Today is the world of design; a world of digitisaion. design is taking over and controlling the audience. When we talk of design, it does not just mean the images or colours, it is also about how interestingly the content is structured, organised and supported by other media - audio and video. Books turns a reader to be merely a passive absorber of thoughts and ideas, whereas online games, stories and websites keeps it's audience engaged and active. This is how digitised content is able to rule the hearts of young and old alike. The learning styles have remained the same, but the learning need has changed. Digitisation is able to capture a larger audience because it takes into consideration all these learning styles. A book with the story of a thirsty crow which was interesting to read and tell some years ago. The same story is going wild on you tube and other sites due to its digitised version. Visuals, images, audio has made the story all the more interesting for a kid to see, hear and read to enjoy it. What is creating this boom in the digital world? What role are the educators playing to use digital learning platforms to make learning fun and interesting? Let's get back more on this in the next post. Till then .... Bye

Journey to Pushkar - How Holy?

Each day lakhs of people thronged to take that holy dip in river Godavari in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Temple towns located on the banks of river Godavari are Basara in Adilabad district, Kaleshwaram and Dharmapuri in Karimnagar district, Bhadrachalam in Khammam district,Rajahmundry and Antarvedi in East Godavari district, Kovvur and Pattiseema in West Godavari district.
We travel, some of us forever, to seek other states, other lives, other souls
The year 2015 Pushkar is considered to be more auspicious because of its occurrence after 144 years, corresponding to the 12th recurrence of the 12-year Godavari Pushkaram cycle. It is believed that during this period from June -July, planet Jupiter enters the zodiac sign of Leo. The festival is dedicated to the worship of rivers. Hindus belief that bathing in the sacred river during Pushkaram cleanses the devotees of their sins. Is it so easy to cleanse the deeds by just a few dips? Will this dip caution the public from committing more sins? Will a dip during this period make the person sinless? So, can one make end number of sins and just take a dip and free himself from being called a sinner?
The most important reason for going from one place to another is to see what's in between, and they took great pleasure in doing just that. A record of 48.1 million people in Andhra Pradesh and 57 million people in the Telangana state has been noted in this years Maha Pushkaram festival. Bathing ghats and basic facilities of food and water though organised by the government could not really check into the stampede that killed few innocent lives.
When asked a few people of the significance of bathing in the muddy waters, their answers startled me " Everyone are going, and so we joined."; "Don't know if we would be alive for the next pushkar" ; "What is wrong in dipping when even if there is no gain"; "there is definitely something which has a positive impact on one's life"....
The only journey is the one within.

Bbbrreeaaakk !!!

…. Aahhhh…. A very long break …as if gone with the wind… into the other world … world that took me on a giant roller coasters, plunging me into new experiences … new tastes of life ..in all its flavours and richness. Well !! I hope I am not sounding too poetic.. excuse me … anyways.. This long break from myself was partly voluntary and partly because of unavoidable circumstances… not very rigid though. Somehow, time just flew away when I realized, ..Oh! It’s been ages that I wrote anything. Finally… grabbed a few minutes to satiate my hunger for writing.
There are so many things that happened through out this year, so many new things that I learned. So many new people that I met, so many new ways of dealing with life and people, new job, new role, ….the list is endless. But all along this journey, the only ONE who has been with me to ensure that the ride is smooth is God. Ok, this is enough for now… will get back with my travel post in my next blog, till then…. C ya
